Children
Children’s Ministries at First Church Lex provides exciting opportunities for children and youth from birth through 5th grade. We are excited to partner with parents, grandparents, and foster parents to help children become faithful disciples of Jesus. We provide meaningful and engaging programs that include choir, bells, & chimes on Sunday mornings, faith development programs on Wednesday evenings during the school year, summer camps and special events. Our goal is to surround all children with a loving and devoted community where children experience significant relationships with people of all ages and a profound sense of belonging. It is our hope that families grow together on their faith journey to connect with God and neighbor, to grow in the knowledge and wisdom of God, and to love and serve our neighbors!

Faith Friends
We believe that children are a vital part of church life, and we want them to be actively involved in worship, reading the Bible, prayer, serving others, giving and sharing God’s heart for the poor and learning about Jesus! Our midweek ministry, Faith Friends, is the place where children are nurtured in the faith, can build relationships with friends, and serve Jesus with their whole heart, soul, mind, and strength. Faith Friends is offered each Wednesday night from September - May and children are feed a meal by church volunteers each time they meet. Each summer we host Vacation Bible School (VBS). This is open to Kids, in preschool (4 years old and potty trained) through 5th grade. Vacation Bible School (VBS) is our yearly summer ministry outreach to educate children about God through Bible lessons, games, craft projects and a whole lot of fun and brings many different groups from within the church. Children & Youth Sundays
At FUMC we believe our children and youth are important! On every 5th Sunday during the year, our children and youth lead the entire worsip service on Sunday morning. They perform special music, read the scriptures, and even perform a play or give testimonials. Additionally, each year during fall our church presents all second-graders (and third graders who were not with us during second grade) their very first Bible.

frequently asked questions
Who will be teaching my child?
All of our volunteer teachers are carefully screened volunteers who have been trained in our Child and Student Safety Policy and have completed a recent background check. Volunteers have a genuine desire for your children to know Jesus in a friendly environment.
What will they be doing?
Our goal is to provide a place where children will be inspired as they learn and grow. We partner with parents, grandparents, and foster parents to help kids develop a faith in Jesus that lasts a lifetime. Children learn about God through music, interactive learning, Bible lessons, service and prayer.
What if my child has special needs?
All children are invited to join us. For children with special learning needs who benefit from individualized care please speak with the pastor or ministry leader. Children can be matched with a volunteer buddy to assure appropriate supports and assistance so that they can participate fully and successfully with their peers.
