Christy Treffer

Shining Star Preschool Director
Christy Treffer is the current director of Shining Star Preschool and has been on staff, first as an assistant teacher, since 2008 when her youngest children went to kindergarten. A Lexington UMC member since 1987, she has served on numerous committees, and with her husband Bruce, taught Sunday school, VBS and served as Middle School Youth Group leader. Prior to joining the Shining Star Preschool staff, she worked at the Lexington Clipper Herald as a copy editor and Kearney Hub newspaper as a regional reporter. Also, while raising a family, she helped with whatever needed to be done at the Treffer Ranch, where she and her family continue to raise registered
Angus Cattle, Quarter and Paint horses. She has been a 4-H Horse Club leader for over 40 years and continues to provide horseback riding lessons. She and Bruce have three children, Leah (24), Sarah (19) and Gregory (19). Bruce is retried, after 43 years working as a University of Nebraska Extension Agent. In her free time, Christy enjoys learning new things, gardening, reading, photography, bowling, and
horseback riding.
